Aguirre holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University. He is a graduate of the American Bankers Association’s National Commercial Lending Graduate School. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Connecticut, the University of Houston, and the Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago in the Dominican Republic.

He was the United States Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, appointed by President George W. Bush, from June 24, 2005 until January 20, 2009.

Before his appointment as ambassador, Aguirre served from February 7, 2003, as the first Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an Under Secretary rank position in the Department of Homeland Security. At USCIS, Mr. Aguirre led a team of 15,000 employees serving over 6 million annual applicants seeking immigration benefits.

Aguirre was bestowed the Order of Isabella the Catholic Gran Cruz by Spain, Order of José Matías Delgado—Grade of Grand Officer—by El Salvador, and the Order of Christopher Columbus—Grade of Grand Officer—by the Dominican Republic. The Daughters of the American Revolution awarded him their 2004 Americanism Medal.

Aguirre is a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity and received the Delta Sigma Pi Career Achievement Award in 2000. He received his Order of the Golden Helmet for 50 years of service with Delta Sigma Pi in March 2019.

He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Partners Group L.L.C.; a consulting group offering strategic, geopolitical, and business advice to clients seeking to maximize their transatlantic business opportunities.  Aguirre also serves on several corporate boards.

He resides in Houston, Texas.

She graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then graduated from the Yale Law School with a Juris Doctor.

She worked as an attorney in the Miami Dade County Attorney’s Office from 1986-1987, and then served as a law clerk to Edward B. Davis of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida from 1987-88 before returning to the County Attorney’s Office until 1996. In 1996, she was appointed County Court Judge on Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court. In 1999, she was appointed Circuit Court Judge in that same district by Governor Jeb Bush.

She was nominated for a seat on U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida by George W. Bush in 2003. She was confirmed by the United States Senate that same year.

Altonaga is also known for her strong support for the creation of Florida International University College of Law.

Alvarez currently serves as Chair of the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science Board of Trustees, as member of the Board of Trustees and as Chair of the Academic Policy and Student Affairs Committee of Florida International University, as a member of the University of Miami School of Law Visiting Committee, and Chairs the Florida International University College of Law Dean’s Advisory Council, including, in the past, serving on the boards of Miami Dade College and Manhattanville College. Cesar served as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities, as well as Chair of the United Way of Miami Dade.

Subsequently, he attended Florida International University, where he earned an MS in Criminal Justice and an MPA. He has served as adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College.

Avila was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2014 as a Republican, and represents District 111. He serves on the Economic Affairs Committee, Health & Human Services Committee, Business & Professions Subcommittee, Highway & Waterway Safety Subcommittee, and the Transportation & Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee. He has served as Majority Deputy Whip.

Avila serves in the Florida Army National Guard, holding the rank of Second Lieutenant. He received the National Defense Service Medal.

In Hialeah, Avila has served on the Scholarship Board as well as the Planning and Zoning Board. He is a member of the Public Health Trust Board of Trustees and has served on the Miami-Dade County Republican Executive Committee.

Avila resides in Miami Springs and is married to Cindy Gil-Avila of Bogota, Colombia. He has two children.

He was educated at Christopher Columbus High School the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He is the owner of BABJ Investment Corporation, Marketing Vice President of Fatima Home Care and a Director of IUSA Partners, Inc.

Barreiro is currently a candidate for the United States House of Representative, District 27.

In 1998, Barreiro was elected to serve as Miami-Dade County Commissioner representing District 5. He served as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners in 2007 and 2008. He has been re-elected for subsequent terms to represent constituents in portions of the Cities of Miami and Miami Beach, as well as the communities of Little Havana, Downtown, and South Beach. Barreiro served as the Chair of the Transportation and Public Works Committee. On behalf of Miami-Dade County he sat on the Downtown Development Authority, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, Southeast Florida Transportation Council, Miami River Commission, Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency and the Beacon Council.

Barreiro was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1992 as a Republican representing District 107. While serving in the House, he chaired the Tourism Committee.

Bruno is married to Zoraida Barreiro, and they have two children.

In 2011 he was elected to the Miami-Dade County Commission representing District 13, which includes Hialeah, Miami Lakes, Palm Springs North, and neighboring areas of unincorporated Miami-Dade. He is currently Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.

He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2008 as a Republican representing District 110. He was nominated Chairman of the Hispanic Legislative Caucus and was subsequently chosen to chair the Committee of Business Regulation. Bovo previously served on the Hialeah city council from 1998 to 2008, including as president.

He is married to Viviana Bovo and his five children.

He is a Florida State University and a Harvard University’s law school graduate.
In 2002, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Cantero to the Florida Supreme Court.
is a Florida lawyer and a former Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. He is regarded as the first Florida Supreme Court Justice of Hispanic descent.
In 2008, Cantero resigned from the Florida Supreme Court.

Cardenas was born in Cuba in 1948. His family left Cuba and arrived to Florida. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and received his associate’s degree from Miami Dade Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University, and his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University.

Cardenas is a partner in the law firm of Squire Patton Boggs, in the Advocacy Group at Cardenas Partners and a member of the Board of Trustees of Florida A&M University.

Cardenas participated in the transition of the United States Department of Commerce at the beginning of the Ronald Reagan administration. He was appointed to the first U.S. ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis in 1983.

He served three terms as Vice-Chairman and two terms as Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. He also served as the Executive Committee of the Republican Party. Cardenas was the first Hispanic to lead a major state party and remains the only Hispanic Republican Party Chairman in Florida history. He represented Florida as a delegate at every Republican National Convention held from 1976 to 2008.

Cardenas was a senior adviser and fundraiser for the 2016 Jeb Bush presidential campaign.

She attended Hialeah Senior High School, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University.

Castillo began a career in Miami-Dade County Public Schools working at various levels of the administration, including the Superintendent’s Office and the office of a School Board Member. She went on to serve as Chief-of-Staff to the first Mayor of the City of Doral for over eight years. During her tenure, she helped develop city-wide education programs in Doral such as a financial literacy program, in conjunction with the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank.

Castillo was elected to the Miami-Dade County Public School Board in 2012, representing District 5. She serves as the Chair of the School Board’s Facilities Construction Committee, and Vice-Chair of the School Board’s Fiscal Accountability & Government Relations. Castillo is an active member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials organization, National School Board Association’s Council of Urban Boards of Education, and is the School Board’s representative on the Miami-Dade County League of Cities and the National Hispanic Council of School Board Members.

Castillo also works as Director of Alumni Relations for Florida International University. She established the the Andrea Castillo Foundation, which provides scholarships to students majoring in Education at public colleges and universities in Miami-Dade, in memory of her daughter Andrea, a Miami-Dade College graduate and aspiring educator who passed away at the age of 21.

Castillo resides in Doral with her son Kevin.
