The Club Cubano Americano de Jacksonville was founded in 1967 by a group of Cuban residents who wanted to gather and share among themselves and with the community in general their cultural heritage and tradition. It was the first Spanish-speaking club in North America, and as such, has always welcomed members from all Latin American countries, Spain and the US, whose varied cultural expressions have enriched the life of the club. Although it is no longer the owner of the facilities, the Club has been allowed, by the Diocese of St. Augustine, to use its facilities to continue its mission to provide a place that enables families and individuals to gather in a wholesome environment and to provide activities that will encourage friendship, camaraderie, cultural and family values.
