Medrano, Humberto

Humberto Medrano was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba.  A lawyer, who graduated from the University of Havana, and laureate journalist. Co-Director of Prensa Libre in Cuba until 1960 when he took refuge in the Embassy of Panama in Cuba and left for Miami.  He collaborated for decades in Diario Las Americas newspaper.  He was one of the founders of Radio Martí, and in May 1984 he was appointed deputy Director of the new entity and in 1989 he was in front of the Miami office of Radio and television Martí until 1997 when he was appointed chief adviser to the Cuba Transmission Office (OCB), when the Offices of TV and Radio Martin were transferred from Washington to Miami.  He pioneered the issues of human rights and the first that led to regional and international organizations systematic violations of these in Cuba.  He passed away in Miami in 2012.
