Banker and civic leader Maria C. Alonso is the president and CEO of United Way of Miami-Dade.

After graduating with honors in industrial engineering from the University of Miami, Ms. Alonso worked for two years in engineering. In her most recent role with Bank of America – where she has worked since 1995 – Ms. Alonso was senior vice president and Miami market manager.

Her volunteer positions have included chairing the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and New World School of the Arts, and co-chairing the One Community, One Goal initiative of The Beacon Council. She has served on the boards of The Miami Foundation, Camillus House, the Miami Dade College Foundation, the March of Dimes and Teach For America.
